Hey everyone I'm alive!!!! Sorry I missed out on last week. I guess there is this holiday here in South America where people wanted to take few days off of work and have a water fight, so they did. But like whole cities went against whole other cities just wrecking each other in water. Would have been super fun but we couldn't leave the apartment because people decided that in those fights they would fill water balloons with pee and poop and mud and all that good stuff. Gosh dang it these people know how to party hahaha!!!
These last two weeks have just been straight up filled with miracles and great things. something that I really want to share with all of you though is of someone we met named Edison. He was sitting on his motorcycle in front of his house with his little daughter in his arms and he was super nice and fun to talk to. He is probably the tallest Ecuadorian and the swellest man I have ever met, but he told us that when he was littler he used to play football with the missionaries down in the park next to the church. He told us that his little girl had been pretty sick lately though. We left him with a prayer and asked for good health for his little girl and his family. The next time we went by his house, he told me that right after we had left, there were no problems at all with his daughter. She was perfectly fine after that. He kept saying that the prayer I said was something of miracles. He actually kind of started praising me a little bit and I kept having to put the praise to God. We went by his house the next night and sat down with his family and met them really well and talked about the book of mormon. The spirit was so strong that whole lesson. We went by his house again last night and his little 10 year old has been reading the book of mormon and him and his wife are reading it together!!!! such a powerful family we found. I am so excited to keep progressing with them!
In the depths of Ecuador, we have found probably the only American that lives here. He' from New York and wants nothing to do with the missionaries. Hates us actually. Likes to cuss us out when we walk by. We were walking by one night after a family home evening with one of the families we are teaching and we had some left over cookies. I felt really impressed that I needed to give the rest to him. Man i've never seen a heart soften so fast! still doesn't want anything to do with us, but told us the next time we pass by he would give us some rice and chicken. Soft touches make big differences.
In one of our lunches, I felt like I needed to share my missionary scripture with the mother of the house Alma 26:12. I asked if she could read it for us and the whole time she was getting choked up. She had been going through some rough times in life and some family members had been sick but as I bore testimony that I know that there is nothing that we cant' go through with the Lord on our side, man the spirit filled that room. She then surprised me hugely by asking me to sign my name next to the scripture in her own copy. Man the people here honestly have touched my heart.
I love this work family and friends! As I have developed more of the Christ like attributes, I have seen the spirit guiding me in this work! Strive in all that is possible to be worthy of the companionship of the spirit. Let the Lord pour out his spirit upon you. Let the blessings fill your life. Prosper in your own land.
Have an amazing week!!!
