Well isn't the time just flying by!
Family and friends welcome once again back to the city of Plant City! And boy do I have stories for you!
I failed to mention that my companion and I were kind of restarting this part of the mission and we are the first pair of missionaries here in about 2 months so we had to start a lot from scratch haha! But we have seen progression like none other! Like I am impressed beyond everything how ready these people are! For example, We had 6 non-members attend church yesterday. 6 new people! And thats not counting some of the others that usually come!!!!! Milagros!!!!
The senior missionary couple that lives around us told us that they were going to try to find a bike for me so that we didn't have to use so many miles in the car. They asked what I preferred if anything. I said that I didn't feel safe being too far away from my companion so if they could find us a tandom bike then I would love everything. My companion FIRMLY disagreed hahaha!
The story of the Grand chase!
One night, it was like 8:20 after a lesson and we didn't have much to do so we went to our favorite and most passed by neighborhood to do some more contacting. No one was outside. We said a prayer though and in that prayer I had a feeling that I needed to ask for guidance because someone in that neighborhood had a question they needed to have answered. We seriously went up to everyone and no one wanted to listen to us. We even started being bold and asking if anyone had any questions that they were thinking of that needed to be answered. No one listened to us. We had been walking around for a while and we were kind of getting discouraged, so we said another prayer. During this prayer, I could only picture the two of us running back to our car for some reason. I didn't see a person, a reason, or why we were running, but I felt like we needed to do that. I looked at Elder Bailey and said "you're going to hate me, but we have to run back to our car" he asked why and my only response was, "I don't know haha!" so I start running back to the car and Elder Bailey follows shortly. Nothing happens when we get back though. It was time to head back to the apartment so we got back in and started to drive home. I was a little down and didn't know why I was having these promptings and then not seeing anything happen, until we got back to the apartment. We walked inside and Elder Bailey looked at me and said "while we were running, I actually got an answer to one of my own questions. Thank you." Follow the spirit because we are here for more than just the people we teach! we are here for our companions as well!
One more short story and then I am off!
We were walking around a neighborhood and just seeing who was outside and making friends that we could teach and talk to when we saw three guys on the back of their porch smoking with a bunch of beer bottles open around them. They waved us over. Like actually waved us over. No one has done that before so of course we had to haha! We went over and started to talk to them and they were actually pretty funny and fun to know. They got us some sprites and we kept explaining how we don't have more than 1 wife and how we aren't brainwashed haha! One of them really wanted to know our names though and its not something we hold secret so if they ask specifically, just to show them that we are real people, we give them to them. Well this one man looks me dead in the eye and says, "Hunter, we are going to meet again later on in life. Just you wait.".......... And then offers me a beer. Guess we will see what happens haha!
All good fun here and all hard work! We have some baptismal dates on the board and we are working towards them and more miracles! I will continue to tell you about all the amazing things that happen and the stories of people as more start to develop! We are excited for a family to be baptized! We just barely met with the father of the family though because he is a catholic and him and the spouse aren't married so we have to get that worked out. He seems really interested in the church though! Might have a full family baptized by the end of December!
More to come! I love you all and I am so happy to be doing what I am doing! I also love hearing from all of you! My favorite scripture verses to share with people right now is Helaman 13:2-4 where Samuel goes to preach among the people of nephi but is rejected, and just when he is about to turn back, the Lord tells him to return and to preach the words in his heart. When he returns, the people would not let him back into the city, so he went and got upon the wall. In our lives, we are going to need to climb many walls. No matter how small or big they may be, as long as we keep an eye of faith to the Lord and know that he will be with us through all things, We will see miracles in our life. I know these things to be true for all people! We are all Gods children and God loves all of his children!
Have an amazing week and know that I am jealous because this is my favorite season back home! I love you all and will have more to come next week!
