Here I am from the town near the mountains to share a little bit more about Ecuador!!! I don't have a ton of time though so here we go going to explain it all amazingly fast. I've got to practice the ukulele to share a special music number tonight at a birthday party for someone that might get baptized this week!
I LOVE VALENCIA! We have contacted maybe 3 hours in the past week, we are just always sitting down and teaching. we had 9 people come with us to church! We are finding some new people right now but we should be seeing baptisms really soon! I love everyone we are teaching.
This week we sat down with a young couple of people who really want to turn their lives around. At the end of the lesson, the lady looked at me and asked "so is f** a bad word?" I was like " YES YUP don't say that!" then she continued to name off every swear word she had ever heard in English. I was nearly on the floor laughing so hard. hahaha I was not expecting that at all!
Walking around in these parts they don't see many gringos. I get a LOT of catcalls and whistles. Lots of people try to speak something with me that they think is english but just sounds like they are spitting pumpkin seeds. We said hey to 4 girls on the side of the street and they all responded in unison "Hola guapo" I still got it.
There hasn't been one night this week that the people haven't invited us over to eat dinner. But they eat it at like 8 at night. we go home with rice filled bellies. I'm going to get so rice fat here..... I love it!
I found out that my nickname in Florida (Elder Sopita) is a nickname for the gays here. Wonderful.
All is good and life is just the best! I'm so excited to tell you more about the people that are going to progress! more next week! I love you all and have a great week!
