THE JAR BEGINS February 18, 2019

I'm here in Ecuador! and mason jar missionary is the only way I can explain the heat so far. I take a step outside and have to change my shirt. but we don't come back during the day so I can't and I'm just soaked hahaha! Ah just got to get accustomed to everything and I will be on my way!

speaking of on my way, it took 2 days to get here to Ecuador. My plane was flying to Ecuador and the lights broke on the runway. they landed us in Panama City but said they couldn't keep us overnight and they sent us back to Miami. got there at like 2 am. stood in a line for 4 hours to rebook my flight. sat in the airport for 15 hours waiting (met an Ecuadorian who taught me all the slang... sweet) then took my flight to Ecuador. got there and no one was waiting for me! luckily I knew enough Spanish to find someone who could help me and then they called my mission president and now everything is fine I promise hahaha! if you want to check out my area, look up in google maps the temple in Guayaquil and go for a walk, see what i get to see everyday! I love it here already.

So this week has been weird. My companion just barely got to Ecuador as well! which means we are both still learning the language, culture, and rules of this mission. we are basically running around blind haha! how funny!!! We are working really hard though. we already have many new people to teach and even a baptismal date already! things are going to be booming here!

contacting is interesting because I guess gringos are like hot or something so when I say hi to like 2 girls walking through the streets they just look at each other and giggle. I still got it.

I want to share a story with you all that really hit me hard this week. to help us out and also help the members out, the members feed us every lunch. we were eating in a house that had a kitchen, a bed, and three chairs. (best food i've ever eaten). after the meal, We shared a scripture with her about giving thanks for the blessings that we have in life. she then bore her testimony to us about how throughout all her life she has been going through hard trials. particularly one where she was super sick during the rainy season and didn't have a roof on her house and only three walls to her house. but she told us that she doesn't go to sleep at night or eat one bite of food without giving thanks to her Father in Heaven for everything she has in life. I've never felt anything so powerful in my life.

Ecuador is beautiful! life is amazing! the world is hot! Fresh mango juice is the best thing i've ever drank in my life!

I love you all and am so excited to bring more good news to all of you!

until then!
